Celebrating 100 years of great property decisions
Shellabears through the years
It all started in 1925 when Samuel “Bert” Shellabear established Shellabear & Son. Located on St George’s Terrace at the time, Bert not only offered land / real estate assistance to the community, Shellabear & Son also provided insurance and finance services.
By the 1960’s it was time to move to Pier Street and Bert’s son, Ian Shellabear, took the reins and focused the business’ future on residential real estate sales. To this day, our Sales Team continues to provide advice and strategy, imparting 100 years of knowledge to our clients.
Moving through the late 1970’s and into the 1980’s, Shellabears became aligned with Perth’s Western Suburbs, finding a home in Nedlands, and Chris Shellabear started to identify Property Management as a core offering, both Residential and Commercial. As Ian Shellabear gradually entrusted the family name along the line, Chris commenced a significant association with the North Cottesloe Surf Lifesaving Club, which set the tone for Shellabears and the Community going forward.
In 2014, the strong connection with Cottesloe saw Chris and the team make the exciting transition to 575 Stirling Highway, to cement being part of the Cottesloe Community. The recent transformation of the office has given new life to Shellabears and instilled a sense of new beginning as Shellabears continues to be the trusted name in real estate and the best property decision for our clients.
Shellabears’ own real estate journey has seen offices on St Georges Terrace, Pier Street, Claremont, Nedlands and now the beacon that is our home in Cottesloe
