WHO WE ARE
Shellabears is one of the longest running family based Real Estate agencies in Perth still operated by the founding family. Whilst forging new business relationships, the company still handles the property affairs of clients introduced by previous generations and prides itself on providing the same high level of service to longstanding and new clients alike.
In addition to sales and appraisals we also focus on design and planning advice. Shellabears is uniquely positioned to have on-site access to a highly respected architect and builder, who can assist buyers with their understanding of building, property planning, subdivisions, developments and of course design utilising our R-Code system.
Our strong team of industry-recognised staff are highly experienced and endeavour to fully understand your needs and wishes. The behind-the-scenes administration and marketing team at Shellabears further allows our reps to draw on their experience. We are constantly updating and improving, now with innovative marketing across a variety of social network platforms with proven results.

HOW WE BEGAN
Using his deferred pay from the First World War, Samuel Albert Shellabear founded the company that was to become Shellabears in 1925. Samuel’s formal training and expertise as a chartered accountant allowed him to establish a solid and professional reputation that saw him through the depression.
Moving from St Georges Terrace to 14 Pier Street in Perth in the 1960s, the first Claremont office of Shellabear & Son was opened when they bought Ferris & Forbes. Samuel’s youngest son Ian Langdon Shellabear took the reins at Shellabear & Son in 1969. In the late 1970s Shellabear & Son’s head office moved to Nedlands.
In 1979, Ian was joined by his eldest son Chris, who had recently completed his studies at the University of Western Australia. During the 1980s Shellabears chose to focus on residential sales and leasing in the Western Suburbs in order to deliver the highest level of service to the area the Shellabears family had lived in for so many years.
