Cottesloe Foreshore Revitalisation Moves Forward
|
The future of the Cottesloe Foreshore has taken a significant step forward, with the Town of Cottesloe announcing a major funding commitment toward the long-awaited revitalisation of Perth’s most iconic beachfront precinct.
In May 2026, the Town confirmed it had secured $10 million in funding through the Australian Government’s Urban Precincts and Partnerships Program (uPPP), alongside a further $5 million contribution from the Town of Cottesloe itself.
The funding will allow delivery of Stage One of the Cottesloe Foreshore Revitalisation Project — a transformative upgrade designed to create a more accessible, vibrant and community-focused beachfront environment.
A Long-Term Vision For Cottesloe
The revitalisation project has been years in planning, with the Foreshore Revitalisation Masterplan originally adopted by Council in 2018, followed by approval of detailed construction drawings in 2021.
The vision focuses on enhancing both the visitor experience and the everyday lifestyle enjoyed by local residents, while carefully balancing the unique character and heritage of Cottesloe Beach.
The foreshore remains one of Western Australia’s most recognised coastal destinations, attracting visitors year-round and supporting local cafés, restaurants, tourism operators and small businesses.nd toward new housing construction while helping more Australians enter the property market.

What Stage One Includes
Stage One of the project will focus on improving accessibility, public amenity and connectivity throughout the beachfront precinct.
Key upgrades include:
- Transforming Carpark 1 into landscaped public open space
- New terraced seating and event spaces
- Widened footpaths along Marine Parade
- Improved pedestrian and cyclist safety through traffic calming measures
- Enhanced universal beach access for people of all abilities
- Additional tree planting and sustainability initiatives
- Stronger integration between the beachfront and nearby hospitality venues
The expanded public spaces are also expected to increase the Town’s ability to host community and tourism events throughout the year.

What It Means For Cottesloe
Investment into public infrastructure and lifestyle amenity has historically played an important role in supporting the long-term appeal of premium coastal suburbs.
For residents, buyers and investors alike, the continued enhancement of the foreshore further reinforces why Cottesloe remains one of Perth’s most tightly held and desirable coastal locations.
The revitalisation is expected to improve walkability, accessibility and activation throughout the beachfront precinct, while strengthening the connection between the oceanfront, local businesses and surrounding residential areas.
The Town of Cottesloe has also confirmed it is continuing discussions with the State Government regarding future stages of the broader revitalisation project.
