Nestled between Subiaco, Kings Park, Nedlands and Mount Claremont, Shenton Park is in close proximity to not only the city, beaches and Swan River, but also the shopping precincts of Claremont and Subiaco and Perth’s leading hospitals – you simply cannot beat this location!
Shenton Park is one of Perth’s oldest suburbs with many of the original workers’ cottages maintained from the late 1800’s resulting in oodles of charm. A number of narrow streets, such as Yilgarn, Lyall and Hilda Streets, together with their rear laneways, gives the area an inner-city Melbourne vibe.
In the middle of Shenton Park sits the beautiful Lake Jualbup, home to many wildlife, and enormous weeping willow trees. The lake is a tranquil retreat for residents. The lake now has a new and innovative climbing apparatus playground, catered for children aged four and above.
The demographic of the suburb is quickly changing due to the rise of younger families entering the market. Mixed in with older couples and families, this makes it one of Perth’s safest suburbs. It’s a common sight to see young mums pushing their prams and gathering at the local café, or down by the lake for a ‘mothers group’.
Locals are passionate about the area due to its close-knit community feel. With walking distance to cafes, shops, utilities, plus some of Perth’s most well-known restaurants, it’s also home to one of the city’s leading junior schools, Rosalie Primary.
